5-month-old Joshua was born at 23 weeks. While he was being discharged, he contracted influenza and had to be airlifted to Ochsner Baptist Hospital.  His family is from a small town near Shreveport, LA.  Joshua has been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, which increases the blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs and causes extreme shortness of breath.  His mom Thelma said, “this place has been beneficial in ways that no amount of money could have provided for me or my family!  Being so far from home, being here has been comforting.  I would call it a safe haven”.  Thelma was a true light around the House, baking special desserts to share with the families, bringing in sweets from local bakeries, and even cooking meals for the staff! We are so happy that Thelma and Joshua were finally able to return home after their 41 night stay with us!
