Alex, age 2, came to us on November 27th from Miami, Florida. Alex is diagnosed with Acquired Brain Injury, which is a type of brain damage that happens after birth, mostly due to oxygen deprivation. The Labrada family heard about the hyperbaric treatment available in New Orleans, and they came hoping to see some improvement in Alex’s condition.
It has been a very stressful time for the family, especially being away from friends and family during the Holidays, but they bonded with another family whose son was also undergoing chamber treatments and they were able to be a huge support to one another. Alex’s father, Alejandro, told our staff that while this has been such a challenging time for them, having other families who could understand what they were going through “has provided a sense of normalcy during this difficult time. You guys (staff) are like family to us…”
